Aaron's take

Carpet cleaning is one of the largest home service searches I have seen, around 368,000 a month in the US for "carpet cleaning" alone. It is also very price-sensitive and crowded, with national franchises and small operators competing for the same customers. Upholstery, couch, rug and tile and grout cleaning each have their own searches.

The carpet cleaners that win online are clear about prices, often per room, explain their cleaning method, show before and after photos and build a large base of reviews. Most of the top-reviewed carpet cleaners also offer air duct and upholstery cleaning, which raises the value of each visit.

Your website

Pages your website needs

In the order I would build them. Each page targets one group of searches.

  1. Carpet cleaning page with prices

Price is a top question. Show per-room prices or ranges.

  2. Upholstery and couch cleaning page

About 33,100 searches a month for couch cleaning. A natural add-on.

  3. Rug cleaning page

Area rugs need different care. A separate page catches these searches.

  4. Tile and grout cleaning page

Another add-on with its own searches.

  5. Pet stains and odours page

Pet owners search specifically for this. Explain how you treat it.

  6. Our cleaning method page

Explain your process and products. It builds trust and justifies price.

How I plan and build sites like this

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for carpet cleaners

Primary category

Secondary categories

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • Use Carpet cleaning service as your primary category. Of the 8 most-reviewed US carpet cleaners I checked, 6 added Upholstery cleaning service and 6 added Air duct cleaning service.
  • Add Air duct cleaning service only if you offer it.
  • Post before and after photos of real jobs.
  • Ask customers to mention the room or item cleaned in their reviews.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for carpet cleaners

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • Yelp
  • Angi
  • Nextdoor
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Carpet Cleaners can advertise with Local Services Ads, the "Google Verified" ads that sit above everything else for many local searches. You pay per lead, not per click.

  • Google category: Carpet & Upholstery cleaning
  • The Google Verified badge is available for this category.
  • Pre-badge ads are available while verification is pending.
  • Booking leads are available.

Google is moving Local Services Ads into Performance Max with pay-per-lead goals, starting with a first US phase in August 2026.

Ads and SEO work best together. Ads buy leads while your organic and map rankings grow, and strong reviews and a complete Google Business Profile help both. As SEO brings in more leads for free, you can lower ad spend on the searches you already win.

For context, Google search ads in the Home & Home Improvement category average $90.92 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Mistakes

Mistakes carpet cleaners make

  1. Hidden prices

Carpet cleaning is price-sensitive. Clear prices win the booking.

  2. Bait pricing

Low headline prices with surprise extras lead to bad reviews.

  3. Only selling carpets

Upholstery, rugs and tile add value to each visit. Give each a page.

  4. Too few reviews

The market is crowded. Reviews are how you stand out.

FAQ

Carpet Cleaning SEO questions

How big is search demand for carpet cleaning?

Very large. In the US, "carpet cleaning" gets about 368,000 searches a month and "carpet cleaning near me" about 110,000. Couch, upholstery, rug and tile cleaning add more. It is also crowded, so clear prices and a strong base of reviews are what make a cleaner stand out.

Can carpet cleaners use Local Services Ads?

Yes, if it suits your budget. Carpet & Upholstery cleaning is one of Google's US Local Services Ads categories, and the Google Verified badge, pre-badge ads and booking leads are all available. Think of the ads as a fast source of leads while organic and map rankings grow. Google says these ads are ranked on factors such as your distance from the customer, your reviews and how quickly you respond to leads.

Should carpet cleaners publish prices?

Yes. Carpet cleaning is price-sensitive, and people compare before booking. Per-room prices or clear ranges, with what is included and what costs extra, win more bookings than vague "call for a quote" pages, and prevent the surprise extras that lead to bad reviews.

What extra services should carpet cleaners promote?

Upholstery, couch, rug and tile and grout cleaning. Each has its own searches, and they raise the value of every visit. Six of the 8 most-reviewed US carpet cleaners I checked also listed Upholstery cleaning service on their profile. Offering them as bundles makes the extra value easy to see.

How much does SEO cost for a carpet cleaning company?

It depends on how competitive your area is, how many services and towns you want to rank for and what your website needs first. Most carpet cleaners pay monthly, because new pages, reviews and local work need steady attention. I look at your site and the competitors near you first, then give you a fixed quote.
