Aaron's take

Catering buyers are planning an event with a date and a budget, and they want menus and prices fast. "Catering near me" and "catering" each get about 135,000 searches a month in the US, and wedding catering gets about 22,200. Searches peak in November and December.

The caterers that win online publish menus with per-person prices or ranges, have pages for weddings, corporate events and private parties, show photos of real events, and make it easy to request a quote with the date and guest count. Reviews from event planners and venues carry weight, and venue partnerships bring steady referrals.

Your website

Pages your website needs

In the order I would build them. Each page targets one group of searches.

  1. Menus with prices page

Buyers want per-person prices or ranges.

  2. Wedding catering page

    About 22,200 searches a month. High-value events.

  3. Corporate catering page

Repeat business from offices and events.

  4. Private parties page

    Birthdays, holidays and celebrations.

  5. Quote request page

Ask for date, guest count and budget.

  6. Event gallery

Photos of real events sell the experience.

How I plan and build sites like this

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for caterers

Primary category
Caterer
Secondary categories
Banquet hallRestaurantDelivery service

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • Use Caterer as your primary category if catering is your main business. Many of the most-reviewed US caterers I checked were restaurants that also cater, so they added their cuisine category.
  • Add Banquet hall only if you have an event space.
  • Post photos from real events, with client permission.
  • Ask event planners and venues for reviews too.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for caterers

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • The Knot
  • Yelp
  • Facebook
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Caterers can't use Local Services Ads, so paid search means Google Ads. Ads bring leads within days but stop the moment you stop paying. SEO takes months to build, then keeps working. Most businesses run ads for the most valuable searches while SEO grows, then shift budget as organic rankings take over.

For context, Google search ads in the Restaurants & Food category average $30.57 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Structured data

Add this to your home page, filled in with your details, so search engines and AI tools know exactly what your business is, where it is and how to reach you. It uses the FoodEstablishment type.

Mistakes

Mistakes caterers make

  1. Hidden menus and prices

Buyers want to know cost before calling.

  2. One generic page

Weddings, corporate and parties are different buyers.

  3. Slow quotes

Event planners book quickly. Reply fast.

  4. Missing the holiday season

Searches peak in November and December.

FAQ

Catering SEO questions

How do people search for caterers?

Locally and by event type. In the US, "catering near me" and "catering" each get about 135,000 searches a month, and wedding catering about 22,200. Menu pages with prices, event type pages and a quick quote form turn those searches into bookings.

Can caterers use Local Services Ads?

Catering is not a Local Services Ads category on Google's US list, so paid search means regular Google Ads. Restaurant is a category, so a restaurant that also caters may appear there. SEO, reviews and your Google Business Profile are the main ways customers find you, and they keep bringing in enquiries without a cost per click.

Should caterers publish prices?

Yes, at least per-person ranges. Buyers have a budget and want to know quickly whether you fit it. Show sample menus with prices, explain what affects the final cost such as service style and staffing, and offer a custom quote for larger events.

When do people search for catering?

In the US, catering searches peak in November and December and are lowest in January and September. Holiday party menus and corporate offers should be live by October, and wedding catering pages need to work all year. Repeat corporate clients help smooth out the quieter months.

How much does SEO cost for a catering company?

There is no single price. The main factors are your local competition, the number of services and locations you want to show up for, and how much your current site needs fixing. Monthly work suits most caterers, since rankings keep improving with new content and reviews. I give a fixed quote after reviewing your site and competitors.
