Aaron's take

In my years at a dental marketing agency, the cosmetic pages were always the hardest to get right and the most valuable when we did. A patient thinking about veneers is not in pain and not in a hurry. They are comparing smiles, prices and dentists for weeks, sometimes months.

That changes what the website has to do. "Veneers" gets around 201,000 searches a month, but the people behind them want proof: real before-and-after photos, an honest explanation of porcelain versus composite, and some idea of cost. A cosmetic dentist with a strong gallery and clear treatment pages wins the patients who are willing to travel for the right result.

Search volumes: DataForSEO (Google Ads data), US, checked October 13, 2026. "Veneers" gets about 201,000 searches a month and "cosmetic dentistry" about 90,500. Google hides volumes for some, such as "veneers cost".

Your website

Pages your website needs

In the order I would build them. Each page targets one group of searches.

  1. Veneers page, porcelain and composite

The biggest cosmetic search. Explain the difference, how long each lasts and who each suits.

  2. Smile gallery

Cosmetic patients decide on what they can see. Real before-and-after photos, with permission, do more than any paragraph of text.

  3. Teeth whitening page

"Teeth whitening near me" gets about 60,500 searches a month. It is often the first treatment that leads to bigger work.

  4. Smile makeover page

For patients considering several treatments at once. Walk through how you plan it, how long it takes and what to expect.

  5. Cost and financing page

Cosmetic work is rarely covered by insurance. Ranges and payment options remove the biggest barrier to booking.

  6. Bonding and gum contouring pages

Smaller treatments with their own searches. They bring in patients who are not ready for veneers yet.

How I plan and build sites like this

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for cosmetic dentists

Primary category
Cosmetic dentist
Secondary categories
DentistTeeth whitening serviceDental implants providerDental clinic

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • If cosmetic work is your main focus, use Cosmetic dentist as the primary category and add Dentist as a secondary. Seven of the 10 most-reviewed US cosmetic dental practices I checked did this.
  • Add Teeth whitening service and Dental implants provider only if you offer them.
  • Upload before-and-after photos with patient permission. They are the most persuasive content on a cosmetic profile.
  • Never confirm in a review reply that the reviewer is your patient. Thank them without mentioning treatment details.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for cosmetic dentists

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • Yelp
  • Healthgrades
  • RateMDs
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Cosmetic Dentists can't use Local Services Ads, so paid search means Google Ads. Ads bring leads within days but stop the moment you stop paying. SEO takes months to build, then keeps working. Most businesses run ads for the most valuable searches while SEO grows, then shift budget as organic rankings take over.

For context, Google search ads in the Dentists & Dental Services category average $72.97 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Mistakes

Mistakes cosmetic dentists make

  1. Stock smiles instead of real results

Cosmetic patients want to see your work. Stock photos of perfect teeth say nothing about what you can do for them.

  2. Burying cost

Most cosmetic work is paid out of pocket. Without any idea of price or financing, patients keep comparing instead of booking.

  3. One "Cosmetic dentistry" page

Veneers, whitening, bonding and makeovers each have their own searches and their own questions. Each needs its own page.

  4. Revealing patient details in review replies

Confirming that a reviewer is a patient, or mentioning their treatment, can break US privacy rules. Keep replies general and polite.

FAQ

Cosmetic Dentist SEO questions

What makes cosmetic dentist SEO different from general dental SEO?

Cosmetic patients are not in pain or in a hurry. They research for weeks and compare results and prices. That means the website needs strong treatment pages, a real before-and-after gallery and honest cost information, rather than the urgency and convenience that general dental pages focus on.

Should a cosmetic dentist show prices?

Show ranges and explain what affects them, such as the number of teeth and porcelain versus composite. Most cosmetic work is paid out of pocket, so price is a key question. Clear ranges and financing options keep patients on your site and make the consultation easier.

How important are before-and-after photos?

They are the most persuasive content a cosmetic practice has. Use real cases with written patient permission, show the same lighting and angle before and after, and label the treatment. Put them on treatment pages, in a gallery and on your Google Business Profile.

Which Google Business Profile category should a cosmetic dentist use?

If cosmetic work is your main focus, use Cosmetic dentist as the primary category and add Dentist as a secondary. Most of the busiest US cosmetic practices do this. If you mainly do general dentistry, keep Dentist as primary and add Cosmetic dentist as a secondary instead.

How much does SEO cost for a cosmetic dental practice?

It depends on your city, how many treatments you want to rank for and what your site needs. Most practices pay monthly, because treatment pages, galleries and reviews need steady work. I look at your site and the practices you compete with first, then give you a fixed quote.
