Aaron's take

Parents choosing a daycare are making one of the most careful decisions they will make, and they almost always start on Google. "Daycare near me" gets around 450,000 searches a month in the US, one of the largest local searches I have seen. Many of those parents then compare reviews, photos, hours and cost before they ever call.

The childcare centres that fill their spaces online make it easy to answer the questions parents ask: what age groups you take, what a day looks like, your staff ratios and qualifications, your hours, your fees, and how to book a tour. Infant care has its own searches and usually the longest waiting lists, so it deserves its own page.

Your website

Pages your website needs

In the order I would build them. Each page targets one group of searches.

  1. A page for each age group

Infant, toddler and preschool programmes each have their own searches and questions.

  2. Book a tour page

Most parents visit before choosing. Make booking a tour the main call to action.

  3. Tuition and fees page

Parents search for what daycare costs. Clear fees, or at least ranges, help them shortlist you.

  4. A day in our centre page

Parents want to picture their child's day. A schedule and photos build trust.

  5. Staff and safety page

Qualifications, ratios, licensing and safety procedures are what parents care about most.

  6. After school and summer programme pages

Older children need care too. These pages bring in families with school-age children.

How I plan and build sites like this

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for childcare and daycare centers

Primary category
Day care center
Secondary categories

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • Use Day care center as your primary category. Of the 10 most-reviewed US day care centres I checked, half added Preschool and several added After school program.
  • Keep your hours exactly right, including early drop-off and late pick-up. Parents plan around them.
  • Add plenty of photos of classrooms, play areas and outdoor spaces, without children's faces unless you have permission.
  • Ask parents for reviews at natural moments, such as the end of a term or when a child moves up a room.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for childcare and daycare centers

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • Facebook
  • Yelp
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Childcare And Daycare Centers can advertise with Local Services Ads, the "Google Verified" ads that sit above everything else for many local searches. You pay per lead, not per click.

  • Google category: Child care

Google is moving Local Services Ads into Performance Max with pay-per-lead goals, starting with a first US phase in August 2026.

Ads and SEO work best together. Ads buy leads while your organic and map rankings grow, and strong reviews and a complete Google Business Profile help both. As SEO brings in more leads for free, you can lower ad spend on the searches you already win.

For context, Google search ads in the Education & Instruction category average $77.48 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Mistakes

Mistakes childcare and daycare centers make

  1. No tour booking

Most parents visit before choosing. Make booking a tour easy on every page.

  2. Hiding fees

Parents compare costs. Clear fees or ranges help them shortlist you.

  3. Old photos

Parents judge a centre by its photos. Keep them current and bright.

  4. Wrong hours

Parents plan work around drop-off and pick-up. Wrong hours lose trust fast.

FAQ

Daycare SEO questions

How do parents search for daycare?

Mostly locally. "Daycare near me" gets about 450,000 searches a month in the US and "child care near me" about 60,500. Parents then compare reviews, photos, hours and fees before booking a tour, so your Google Business Profile and website both need to answer those questions clearly.

Can childcare centres use Local Services Ads?

Child care is one of Google's US Local Services Ads categories. You pay per lead, and the ads appear above regular results for many childcare searches. They work best alongside SEO, because good reviews help both. Google says these ads are ranked on factors such as your distance from the customer, your reviews and how quickly you respond to leads.

When do parents search for childcare most?

In the US, daycare searches peak in August and are lowest in October and December. Having your pages, photos and reviews in good shape by early summer means you are visible when the most parents are deciding.

Should daycare centres publish their fees?

If you can, yes, or at least ranges. Parents search for what daycare costs and often shortlist centres before calling. Clear fees by age group, and what they include, save time for everyone and bring in families who are ready to enrol.

How much does SEO cost for a childcare center?

It depends on how competitive your area is, how many programmes and locations you want to rank for and what your website needs first. Most childcare centers pay monthly, because new pages, reviews and local work need steady attention. I look at your site and the competitors near you first, then give you a fixed quote.
