Aaron's take

In more than nine years in dental marketing, I saw that specialist practices like endodontics grow from two sources: referring dentists and patients searching for themselves. "Endodontist" gets around 135,000 searches a month in the US, and Google hides volumes for most root canal searches, which are also very large. Many patients search after a dentist has told them they need a root canal, to check the specialist, read reviews or understand the procedure.

The endodontic practices that win online explain the procedure plainly, calm fears about pain, show reviews from nervous patients, and make it easy for referring dentists to send patients. Pages for retreatment, apicoectomy and cracked teeth catch patients with more complex problems.

Your website

Pages your website needs

In the order I would build them. Each page targets one group of searches.

  1. Root canal treatment page

Explain the procedure, how long it takes and what recovery is like, in plain language.

  2. Does a root canal hurt page

Fear is the biggest barrier. Honest answers and patient reviews help.

  3. Retreatment and apicoectomy pages

Patients with failed root canals search for these. About 14,800 searches a month for apicoectomy.

  4. Emergency page

Abscesses and cracked teeth are urgent. Explain same-day options if you offer them.

  5. Referring dentists page

Make it easy for dentists to refer, with a simple form and how you report back.

  6. Cost and insurance page

Patients search for root canal costs. Explain typical ranges and insurance.

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for endodontists

Primary category
Endodontist
Secondary categories
DentistEmergency dental servicePeriodontist

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • Use Endodontist as your primary category. Of the 10 most-reviewed US endodontic practices I checked, 5 added Dentist.
  • Add Emergency dental service only if you see urgent patients quickly.
  • Ask nervous patients who had a good experience to say so in their reviews. It reassures others.
  • Never confirm treatment details in review replies. Health privacy rules apply.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for endodontists

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • Healthgrades
  • Yelp
  • Facebook
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Endodontists can't use Local Services Ads, so paid search means Google Ads. Ads bring leads within days but stop the moment you stop paying. SEO takes months to build, then keeps working. Most businesses run ads for the most valuable searches while SEO grows, then shift budget as organic rankings take over.

For context, Google search ads in the Dentists & Dental Services category average $72.97 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Mistakes

Mistakes endodontists make

  1. Ignoring patient searches

Many patients research the specialist themselves. Do not rely only on referrals.

  2. Clinical language

Patients are nervous. Plain, calm explanations help them book.

  3. No referral process online

Dentists want an easy way to refer. A simple form helps.

  4. No emergency information

Abscesses and cracked teeth are urgent. Explain how quickly you can see patients.

FAQ

Endodontist SEO questions

Do endodontists need SEO if most patients are referred?

Yes. Even referred patients search for the specialist, read reviews and learn about the procedure before booking. "Endodontist" gets about 135,000 searches a month in the US. Strong pages and reviews turn referrals into booked appointments, and bring in patients who search on their own.

Can endodontists use Local Services Ads?

Endodontists are not a separate Local Services Ads category on Google's US list. Dentist is, under health care, so a practice could appear there for general dental searches. For endodontic searches, SEO and your Google Business Profile are the main ways to show up.

What content helps nervous root canal patients?

Honest, plain explanations of what happens, how long it takes and what recovery is like, plus reviews from patients who were nervous too. Fear of pain is the biggest barrier, and a calm, clear page helps patients book instead of putting treatment off.

Should endodontists have a page for referring dentists?

Yes. A simple referral form, what information you need and how you report back make it easier for dentists to send patients your way. It also shows general dentists that you are organized and easy to work with. Keep the form short, and send a quick note back after each visit so referring dentists stay informed.

How much does SEO cost for an endodontic practice?

It depends on how competitive your area is, how many treatments and locations you want to rank for and what your website needs first. Most endodontic practices pay monthly, because new pages, reviews and local work need steady attention. I look at your site and the competitors near you first, then give you a fixed quote.
