Aaron's take

Allergy patients search when symptoms flare, and the data shows it: allergist searches rise from March and peak in April and May. "Allergist near me" gets about 60,500 searches a month in the US and "allergy testing" about 49,500, with food allergy testing and allergy shots close behind. Parents searching for a pediatric allergist are a big part of the market.

The allergy practices that win online explain testing and treatment plainly, have pages for seasonal, food and pediatric allergies, explain insurance, and make booking easy before the spring rush. Most of the top-reviewed allergists also list Doctor and Immunologist on their profile.

How I plan and build sites like this

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for allergists

Primary category
Allergist
Secondary categories
ImmunologistDoctorMedical clinic

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • Use Allergist as your primary category. Of the 9 most-reviewed US allergy practices I checked, 5 added Doctor and 3 added Immunologist.
  • Create profiles for individual doctors where Google allows it.
  • Never confirm a patient's condition or treatment in review replies. Health privacy rules apply.
  • Post before allergy season with booking reminders.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for allergists

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • Healthgrades
  • Yelp
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Allergists can advertise with Local Services Ads, the "Google Verified" ads that sit above everything else for many local searches. You pay per lead, not per click.

  • Google category: Allergist
  • The Google Verified badge is available for this category.
  • Pre-badge ads are not available, so ads only run once verification is complete.
  • Booking leads are not available for health care categories.

Google is moving Local Services Ads into Performance Max with pay-per-lead goals, starting with a first US phase in August 2026.

Ads and SEO work best together. Ads buy leads while your organic and map rankings grow, and strong reviews and a complete Google Business Profile help both. As SEO brings in more leads for free, you can lower ad spend on the searches you already win.

For context, Google search ads in the Physicians & Surgeons category average $40.04 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Mistakes

Mistakes allergists make

  1. Missing spring

Searches peak in April and May. Be ready by March.

  2. No pediatric page

    Parents search for pediatric allergists.

  3. Vague testing information

    Explain each test plainly.

  4. Ignoring insurance

    Coverage is a common question.

FAQ

Allergist SEO questions

When do people search for allergists?

In the US, allergist searches rise in March, peak in April and May and are lowest in December. Testing pages, booking and reviews should be ready by early spring, when symptoms start and patients look for help. A reminder post in late winter helps returning patients book before the rush.

Can allergists use Local Services Ads?

Yes. Google lists Allergist as a Local Services Ads category in the US, under health care. You can earn the Google Verified badge, but health care categories do not get pre-badge ads or booking leads. Reviews help both the ads and your organic rankings. Google says these ads are ranked on factors such as your distance from the customer, your reviews and how quickly you respond to leads.

Should allergy practices create a food allergy page?

Yes. Food allergy testing gets about 18,100 searches a month in the US, and many searches come from worried parents. Explain testing, what results mean and how you help families manage food allergies safely. Include guidance on what to do while waiting for an appointment, and when to seek emergency care.

Should allergists target parents?

Yes. Pediatric allergist searches are among the top related searches. A page for children's allergies and asthma, with what to expect at the first visit, helps parents choose your practice. Photos of a child-friendly waiting room and staff help too. Explain how testing works for young children and how long a visit takes.

How much does SEO cost for an allergy practice?

That comes down to three things: the competition where you work, how many services and locations you want to target, and the state of your website today. For most allergy practices, a monthly arrangement works best, because local rankings build over time. I start by looking at your site and your rivals, then send a fixed quote.
