Aaron's take

Day spa visits are often gifts or special occasions, so spas compete on experience, photos and easy gift buying. "Spa near me" gets around 823,000 searches a month in the US and "facial near me" about 368,000, while "day spa" gets about 74,000. Couples spa packages and HydraFacials have their own searches.

The day spas that win online show the space with real photos, list treatments and packages with prices, sell gift cards online, and make booking simple. Searches peak in December and around May, so gift cards and packages matter most then. Half of the most-reviewed day spas I checked also list massage spa on their profile.

How I plan and build sites like this

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for day spas

Primary category
Day spa
Secondary categories
Massage spaFacial spaSpaMassage therapist

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • Use Day spa as your primary category. Of the 10 most-reviewed US day spas I checked, half added Massage spa and 3 added Facial spa and Massage therapist.
  • Add only services you offer.
  • Post photos of treatment rooms and relaxation areas.
  • Promote gift cards in posts before holidays.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for day spas

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • Yelp
  • Facebook
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Day Spas can't use Local Services Ads, so paid search means Google Ads. Ads bring leads within days but stop the moment you stop paying. SEO takes months to build, then keeps working. Most businesses run ads for the most valuable searches while SEO grows, then shift budget as organic rankings take over.

For context, Google search ads in the Beauty & Personal Care category average $39.25 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Mistakes

Mistakes day spas make

  1. No online gift cards

Gift buyers want to buy instantly.

  2. Stock photos

Clients want to see your real space.

  3. Hidden prices

Clients compare. Show prices and packages.

  4. Missing peak seasons

Promote packages before December and May.

FAQ

Spa SEO questions

How do people search for day spas?

Locally and by treatment. In the US, "spa near me" gets about 823,000 searches a month and "facial near me" about 368,000. Treatment pages, packages with prices and real photos of the space bring in the most bookings and gift card sales.

Can day spas use Local Services Ads?

No. Day spa is not on Google's US Local Services Ads list. Massage therapist is a category, so a spa offering massage may appear there. Regular Google Ads are the paid option, while SEO, reviews and a complete Google Business Profile bring in customers without a cost per click, and keep working when ad budgets are paused.

When do people search for day spas?

In the US, day spa searches peak in December and May and are lowest in September and October. Gift cards and packages promoted before those peaks bring in the most sales, often from people buying for someone else. Seasonal packages keep the quieter months busier.

Should day spas sell gift cards online?

Yes. Many spa visits are gifts, and buyers want to purchase instantly, often at the last minute. An online gift card page, promoted on your website and Google Business Profile before holidays, brings in sales even when the spa is closed.

How much does SEO cost for a day spa?

It depends on how competitive your area is, how many treatments and locations you want to rank for and what your website needs first. Most day spas pay monthly, because new pages, reviews and local work need steady attention. I look at your site and the competitors near you first, then give you a fixed quote.
