Aaron's take

Home inspectors serve two audiences: buyers who need an inspection fast, and the real estate agents who recommend inspectors. "Home inspection" and "home inspector" each get around 74,000 searches a month in the US, and add-on services are large too, with termite inspection at about 60,500 and radon testing at about 49,500.

The inspection companies that win online show a sample report, list prices and add-ons clearly, offer online booking and fast turnaround, and keep agents happy with a simple referral process. Searches follow the housing market, peaking in July and August and falling to a low in December.

Your website

Pages your website needs

In the order I would build them. Each page targets one group of searches.

  1. Home inspection page with a sample report

Buyers want to see what they get. A sample report builds trust.

  2. Prices and add-ons page

Inspection cost is a top search. Show base prices and add-on prices.

  3. Add-on service pages

Termite, radon, sewer scope and mold each have large searches of their own.

  4. For real estate agents page

Agents refer many clients. Make it easy for them.

  5. Pre-listing inspection page

Sellers search for inspections before listing. A separate page catches them.

  6. Online booking page

Buyers are on tight deadlines. Let them book fast.

How I plan and build sites like this

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile for home inspectors

Primary category
Home inspector
Secondary categories
Commercial real estate inspectorBuilding inspectorEnvironmental consultant

Categories checked on October 13, 2026

What to get right

  • Use Home inspector as your primary category. Of the 10 most-reviewed US home inspectors I checked, 6 added Commercial real estate inspector.
  • Add Commercial real estate inspector only if you inspect commercial buildings.
  • List each add-on, such as radon or sewer scope, as a service.
  • Ask clients and agents to mention turnaround time and report quality in their reviews.

Reviews

Reviews that matter for home inspectors

Where reviews count

  • Google
  • Yelp
  • Facebook
  • Angi
  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the job is done.
  • Send one short message with a direct link, so leaving a review takes a single tap.
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and specifically.
  • Never pay for reviews or offer anything in return. It breaks Google's rules.

Ads and SEO

Local Services Ads, Google Ads and SEO

Home Inspectors can advertise with Local Services Ads, the "Google Verified" ads that sit above everything else for many local searches. You pay per lead, not per click.

  • Google category: Home inspector
  • The Google Verified badge is available for this category.
  • Pre-badge ads are available while verification is pending.
  • Booking leads are available.

Google is moving Local Services Ads into Performance Max with pay-per-lead goals, starting with a first US phase in August 2026.

Ads and SEO work best together. Ads buy leads while your organic and map rankings grow, and strong reviews and a complete Google Business Profile help both. As SEO brings in more leads for free, you can lower ad spend on the searches you already win.

For context, Google search ads in the Home & Home Improvement category average $90.92 per lead (LocaliQ, 2026). That is a search ads benchmark, not a Local Services Ads lead price.

Mistakes

Mistakes home inspectors make

  1. Ignoring agents

Agents refer many buyers. Give them a page and a simple process.

  2. Hidden prices

Inspection cost is a top search. Clear prices win bookings.

  3. No sample report

Buyers want to know what they get. Show it.

  4. Missing add-ons

Termite and radon searches are huge. Give each its own page.

FAQ

Home Inspector SEO questions

How do buyers search for home inspectors?

Mostly directly and locally. In the US, "home inspection" and "home inspector" each get about 74,000 searches a month, and inspection cost is a top related search. Clear prices, a sample report and online booking win buyers who are on a tight deadline.

Can home inspectors use Local Services Ads?

Yes, if it suits your budget. Home inspector is one of Google's US Local Services Ads categories, and the Google Verified badge, pre-badge ads and booking leads are all available. Think of the ads as a fast source of leads while organic and map rankings grow. Google says these ads are ranked on factors such as your distance from the customer, your reviews and how quickly you respond to leads.

Are add-on inspection pages worth it?

Yes. In the US, "termite inspection" gets about 60,500 searches a month and "radon testing" about 49,500. A page for each add-on you offer, with prices, brings in extra searches and raises the value of each inspection. Offering bundled prices for common add-ons also makes booking simpler for buyers.

Should home inspectors market to real estate agents?

Yes. Agents recommend inspectors to many buyers. A page for agents, with how to refer clients, your turnaround time and a sample report, makes it easy for them to send work your way, alongside your direct marketing to buyers. Fast, clear reports are what agents remember and mention to their clients.

How much does SEO cost for a home inspection company?

That comes down to three things: the competition where you work, how many services and towns you want to target, and the state of your website today. For most home inspectors, a monthly arrangement works best, because local rankings build over time. I start by looking at your site and your rivals, then send a fixed quote.
